A social enterprise from Manchester is expanding their business services after a successful year and receiving a local enterprise community waste grant.
Recycle-IT collects unwanted electronic equipment and fixes them to pass on to those who cant afford new ones or they sell the equipment, such as computers and keyboards for parts.
The not for profit organisation also offers a £50 computer package to charities, small businesses and families as well as sending some of the electronic equipment abroad to poor communities as part of an agreement with Computer Aid International.
The company has recently moved to a new property and the £15,000 grant will allow Recycle-IT to by a van to start providing small pick-ups from customers. They are also planning to join forces with a company to provide skills training for young unemployed people.
