A Professor of Computer Vision in the School of Cancer and Enabling Science has been granting funding from a charity to carry on their work for a further two years.

Tim Cootes from the University of Manchester received £136,6000 in funding from the charity Arthritis Research UK.

The work carried out by Professor Cootes and his team, including Professor Adams from the Manchester Royal Infirmary aims to develop a computer program that will be more effective in detecting osteoporosis in the spine.

There is believed to be around 3 million people in the UK who have the disease.
